A Letter from the Directors of Recruitment
Roll Tide & welcome to The University of Alabama!
We are so excited to introduce you to your collegiate and Panhellenic experience during your first week at Bama. Here at the Capstone, we are proud to be a part of the nation’s largest and most diverse Greek community. Your decision to join a Panhellenic sorority is one that commits you to collegiate years focused on service, connection, personal development, and a continued goal of improving our campus and community. College lasts for four years, but the memories you will make and the bonds of sisterhood you will gain last for life.
Over the course of recruitment week, you may see yourself in one chapter or another; you may think you already know where you want to run home to on Bid Day. We encourage you to keep your mind open to opportunity in every chapter that you see. You are not just joining a single organization, but a whole community of Panhellenic women, who are excited to get to know you and welcome you with open arms.
Here at the Capstone, you will have so many opportunities to get involved and thrive. Each one of our organizations adds unique value and meaning to the Greek experience at UA. We believe that Greek life is simply a stepping stone to facilitate your personal development and involvement in organizations across campus; our hope is to support other communities on campus in addition to our own members.
If you have any questions about Primary Recruitment, please feel free to reach out to us at email@example.com. The Panhellenic Executive Council will be stationed on Sorority Row right outside of the stadium and available all week - come see us if you have any questions or if you just want to talk about how your week is going. We are here to listen, serve you, and make sure that you have the best Recruitment experience possible!
Remember to enjoy this week; take a breath, be authentic, seek out a chapter that encourages your growth and whose values align with your own. Choose to surround yourself with women who challenge you, champion you, and inspire you for the better, and commit to being that woman for your sisters and this community. We are so blessed to add to our Panhellenic Association and excited for you to begin this journey!
We can’t wait to see you!

FALL 2019 PRIMARY RECRUITMENT
We are delighted that you are interested in participating in Fall Primary Sorority Recruitment at The University of Alabama. The University of Alabama, Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and the UA Fraternity and Sorority Community are committed to being a welcoming and inclusive campus characterized by access and opportunity.
2019 Sorority Recruitment at UA is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, 2019 - Sunday, August 18, 2019. All dorms will offer Early Move-In for participants on Thursday, August 8 & Friday, August 9, 2019.
It is important to note that Primary Recruitment at UA is a mutual selection process and that participation in Recruitment DOES NOT guarantee a prospective member an invitation to join a sorority, nor does it obligate her to join. Women interested in participating in Recruitment can register online starting May 1, 2019 @ 10:00 am CST.
If you have additional questions about sorority recruitment, please email Panhellenic at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fall 2019 Recruitment Schedule

Saturday, August 10: Convocation
Sunday, August 11: Open House Day I
Monday, August 12: Open House Day II
Tuesday, August 13: Philanthropy Day I
Wednesday, August 14: Philanthropy Day II
Thursday, August 15: Sisterhood Day I
Friday, August 16: Sisterhood Day II
Saturday, August 17: Preference Day
Sunday, August 18: Bid Day
This year Bid Day at UA will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2019. Bid Day activities begin at Bryant-Denny Stadium with the official opening of the bids ceremony and continue along sorority row, as each sorority hosts a Bid Day meal to welcome new members and their parents.
Bid distribution is traditionally followed by a meal hosted at the sorority houses for the new members. While parents are invited to participate in the excitement of Bid Day, visit the sorority house for brunch and learn about the chapter, due to space constraints, each new member is limited to 2 adult parents/guardians.
On or soon after Bid Day, sororities plan retreats so that their new member class has an opportunity to bond and get to know each other. On this retreat, the new members are able to meet their new sisters, learn about their sorority, and celebrate finding their home away from home for the next four years. Since many parents travel to UA for Bid Day, it is important to know whether the chapter you end up joining will be leaving on Bid Day for a new member retreat.
New Member Packages
In partnership with the Alabama Panhellenic Association, local vendors will be offering Sorority New Member Packages and Arrangements for Fall 2019 Formal Recruitment. New Member Packages are gift packages and/or flowers arrangements congratulating a new member on joining a sorority. Local vendors will deliver New Member Packages to the sorority houses post Bid Day in anticipation of the new members return from their new member retreats. In coordination with local vendors, each sorority has designated a specific time and date for New Member Package deliveries.
Individuals, who wish to hand deliver sorority gift packages and/or flower arrangements to a new member on Bid Day, will need to arrange onsite pick-up with the local vendor, as there will be no deliveries to sorority row on Sunday, August 18, 2019. For more information about Sorority New Member Packages and Arrangements, please contact one of the following approved local vendors:
