What should I wear for Fall 2019 Recruitment?

Convocation: Saturday, August 10, 2019
Recruitment week kicks off with Convocation on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Coleman Coliseum. At Convocation, members of the Alabama Panhellenic Executive Council will give a brief description of the day-by-day schedule. Potential New Members (PNMs) will also be assigned to a Sigma Rho Chi group and will meet their leaders for the week. Each participant will also receive two Philanthropy Day t-shirts at Convocation.

What to wear: Dress is casual. We understand that many of you will be moving in, so please come as you are. T-shirt and shorts are appropriate.

Open House: August 11 & 12, 2019
During the first two days of recruitment, you will visit all 17 sororities with your recruitment group. Each party is only 20 minutes long, so the days move quickly. You will be greeted at each house by door songs as you are welcomed into the party. Feel free to ask questions of the members and tell them a little bit about yourself. Most importantly, remember to have fun and be yourself! The week will be over before you know it!

What to wear:  A sundress and flats or sandals.

Philanthropy Day: August 13 & 14, 2019
Philanthropy Day marks the first round of invitation only parties. During days three and four of recruitment, you will have the opportunity to visit up to 12 sororities for 30 minutes each. Community service is an important part of the overall Greek experience and Philanthropy Day will give you a glimpse into the philanthropic work that sororities participate in at the local and national level. These two days are very laid back and lots of fun.

What to wear: You will receive two philanthropy t-shirts at Convocation.  During these two days, you will wear your philanthropy t-shirts, nice shorts and comfortable shoes. Skirts and short shorts are NOT recommended.

Sisterhood Day: August 15 & 16, 2019
You may attend up to seven parties, each of which is 40 minutes in length during days five and six of Recruitment. The parties on Sisterhood Day are informative and allow you more time for conversations with the sorority women. Participation in this round will allow you the opportunity to see firsthand the individuality and spirit of each sorority, as well as experience the special bond of sorority sisterhood.

What to wear: A nicer sundress and comfortable wedges, heels or flats. Flip flops are recommended for use in between parties.

Preference Day: August 17, 2019
On this day you can attend up to two Preference parties, each lasting 50 minutes. This is the day to really focus on what you want to gain out of joining a sorority. An invitation to a Preference event means that the sorority is very interested in you becoming a member. After participating in a ceremony, you will have the chance to talk privately with a member. During this time, the member may share with you how she made her decision, what her sorority means to her personally, and what sisterhood encompasses. After the last party, you will walk silently to complete your MRABA.

What to wear: A nicer dress and comfortable heels; perhaps something you would wear to an evening wedding. Flip flops are recommended for use in between parties.
